New project coming up

EviGronn Software Foundation, after releasing the filesystem Basica, is planning for a project called BasicaOS, a series of operating systems. The operating system will be single threaded and Java based. The system will be prompt based, and single-threaded. Of course, soon it will soon run as many threads as the user wants. Right now, the filesystem Basica terminal will be implemented on the operating system.

HOW WE PLAN TO TEST IT
=====================

We plan to test it on machines running Windows XP. All of the files of the Operating System will be on a server or cloud, as the native machines may crash due to failures and never recover. We will not actually install the Operating System on our machine, but will just keep testing it from a CD/DVD ROM.

WHEN DO I EXPECT THIS TO BE OUT
=============================

It may take a long time. It may never come out. It may even take just a month. That, depends.

CAN I CONTRIBUTE??
=================

We plan to start the project on Kenai, and keep taking people in for the project. The source code will be available only to selected members of the team.

Since the system is Java based, and the Swing Application Framework is extensively used, we need to develop a "look and feel" for the Operating System. The best one gets selected. So Java developers, get going!!

An operating system basically is divided into the following parts:-
  1. Kernel
  2. Boot Loader
  3. File System
